GENERAL GOALS OF THE COURSE

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Write prescriptions, recall historical and legal aspects of prescription writing.
  • Recall basic pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic concepts
  • Utilize therapeutic skills with non-prescription drugs (OTCs)
  • Apply general principles of therapeutic selection for common disease states
  • Identify drug interactions, adverse drug effects
  • Use appropriate counseling techniques to address common therapeutic cases
  • Use case studies to apply basic principles in the treatment of disease
